ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - Daniel Horton scored a career-high 26 points, with 24 coming in the first half, as Michigan beat Bowling Green 83-57 Wednesday night for their first win of the season.
The Wolverines (1-6) had not taken this long to win since starting 0-4 in 1933.
Horton, a freshman point guard providing hope for the future, made 9-of-11 shots in the first half - including 4-of-5 3-pointers - to help Michigan earn a 43-30 lead at halftime. He limped off the court after turning his right ankle with 7:08 left in the game, but was able to return a few minutes later.
Michigan's LaVell Blanchard had 23 points and 10 rebounds and Bernard Robinson added 20 points.
Kevin Netter, who picked up his third foul with five minutes left in the first half, scored 20 to lead the Falcons (2-3).
Bowling Green led the game for the first several minutes, but lost the lead for good when Horton's jumper put the Wolverines ahead 10-9. Michigan blew the game open with a 21-8 run midway through the second half to take a 68-44 lead.
