Tipoff between the Falcons (2-2 overall) and Seahawks (4-0) will meet in a 7:00 p.m. contest at the FAU Gymnasium in Boca Raton, Fla. Host Florida Atlantic University will face the University of Pittsburgh in the consolation game at 5:00 p.m.
FIRST TITLE GAME SINCE...
The Falcons advanced to the championship game of the Radisson Suites Roundball Classic with Friday night's 77-62 victory over host Florida Atlantic . . . for BGSU, the title-game appearance is the first in two years . . . the Falcons' last championship-game action came at the Kroger Classic in Auburn, Ala. (Nov. 24-25, 2000) . . . in that tournament, BGSU downed Charleston Southern, 80-76 before losing to host Auburn, 94-61 . . . prior to the Auburn tourney, the Falcons had advanced to the championship contest of an in-season tournament since 1992-93 ... that year, the Falcons beat Marquette, but lost to host Purdue in the Boilermaker Classic (Dec. 20-21, 1992) . . . BGSU has not won an in-season tourney since capturing the Illini Classic during the 1988-89 campaign . . . it should be noted, however, that the Falcons have won the Mid-American Conference Tournament four times during that stretch.
FALCONS IN FLORIDA
BGSU now has an all-time record of 4-2 in games played in the state of Florida . . . the Falcons went 2-1 at the UCF Turkey Shootout in Orlando (Nov. 28-30, 1997) . . . in that eight-team tourney, the Brown and Orange beat Butler before losing to Syracuse in the semifinal round . . . that Syracuse squad featured an assistant coach named Curt Miller . . . BG captured third place with a win over Buffalo . . . then, last season, the Falcons split a pair of games in Miami's Gatorade Holiday Classic (Dec. 27-28, 2001) . . . BG lost to Yale and defeated Lehigh at that tourney.
FRANCINE THE SCORING MACHINE
BGSU senior Francine Miller continued her climb up the Falcon career scoring chart last night . . . with a team-high 11 points vs. FAU, Miller increased her career total to 1,214 points . . . in the process, she passed Jacki Raterman (1,213 pts.; 1995-99) to move into 11th place on the BGSU list . . . Miller needs just 20 points to move up two more spots on the list . . . she has Melissa Chase (1,223 pts.; 1979-83) and Michelle Shade (1,233 pts.; 1991-95) in her sights.
ROAD WIN
The Falcons' 15-point margin of victory in last night's FAU game was the team's biggest road win in nearly six years . . . the last time BGSU posted a win of 15 points or greater on an opponent's home court was Feb. 1, 1997, when the Brown and Orange won at Western Michigan, 68-44.
UNDEFEATED ECKERT
First-year Falcon assistant coach Kevin Eckert's teams are now a perfect 3-0 in Florida Atlantic's tourney . . . Eckert, who spent four years on the staff at Buffalo prior to coming to BG, was with the Bulls when the team won the 1999 tournament (Dec. 28-29, 1999) . . . UB defeated Northeastern, 59-52, in the first round of that tourney, before posting a win over the host Lady Owls, 81-53, in the championship game.
