KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Bowling Green State University men's tennis team got wins at every singles flight en route to a 7-0 victory over Northern Iowa University. The neutral-site match was held at Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Mich.
With the victory, the Falcons improve to 4-2 in dual-match play on the season.
BGSU started the match by taking two doubles contests to capture the doubles point. The top-flight team of junior Geoff Hiscox and sophomore Joel Carney was victorious, as was the second-level duo of senior Vitek Wild and junior Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo.
In singles action, Hiscox and Wild won three-set matches at the top two flights, while the other four Falcons won in straight sets over their Panther foes. Coach Jay Harris saw Lopez-Acevedo, Carney, senior Mike Kossoff and freshman Ian Bliss win at flights three through six, respectively.
"Northern Iowa is a very good team," said Harris. "We beat them just barely last year, 4-3, and had to play very well to do that. So, this was really a great response to our loss at Ohio State and a three-and-a-half hour practice yesterday (Thursday).
"We played well, and we're looking forward to continuing that type of play in our matches Saturday."
The Falcons will face Illinois State and host KC in Saturday matches.
