Falcon Gymnastics Team Defeats Broncos; Remains Undefeated In MAC

The Falcon Gymnastics Team continued its impressive season with a victory over conference rival Western Michigan last weekend in Kalamazoo, Michigan 194.875 to 192.825. With this most recent win, BG moves to 14-1 overall and remains undefeated in MAC competition with a perfect 5-0 record.

Several Falcons had season and career highs, including freshman Kari Eslte, who placed 1st in the bars with a 9.875. Fellow freshman Breanne Metzger placed 3rd in the vault with a season and career high score of 9.725, while junior Ann Marie Kassouf tied her season high of 9.825 on the bars earning a 2nd place finish and also earning 2nd in the all-around with a 38.300. Sophomore Melissa Popovich earned her first-1st place finish of 2002 on the beam with a season high score of 9.800.

Marny Oestreng also had another good showing for the weekend. The senior placed 1st in the all-around (39.075), 1st in the vault (9.775), tied for 2nd in the bars (9.825) and also tied for 1st in the floor (9.875) with fellow Falcon Popovich.

BGSU will return home to Eppler Center Complex this weekend to take on the Falcons of the Air Force Academy. The meet will begin at 7 p.m. this Friday, March 1.
