ORLANDO, Fla. - Mississippi scored four runs in the third inning and three more in the fourth frame en route to a 9-1 win over the Bowling Green State University softball team. The game, BG's ninth in the Rebel Spring Games, was held in Orlando, Fla., on Saturday (March 16).
Ole Miss improved to 12-8 with the win, while dropping the Falcons to 7-8.
The game, which snapped a three-game winning streak for the Brown and Orange, was called in the sixth inning due to the eight-run mercy rule.
Junior Libby Voshell provided the Falcons' only run, hitting a solo homer to lead off the Falcon half of the fourth inning.
Junior McKenna Houle, the first of three BGSU pitchers, took the loss to drop to 2-4 on the season. Seniors Rebekah Tipton and Jessie Milosek also saw action in the circle.
The Falcons were to return to action later Saturday with a game vs. George Mason University. That contest was to be BGSU's final game in Florida.
