BGSU Men's Soccer Announces 2002 Schedule

Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's soccer team announced today its 2002 schedule for next fall.
BGSU begins the preseason with two exhibition games vs. IUPUI on Aug. 23 at Cochrane Field and at Ohio Wesleyan on Aug. 25. Then the Falcons begin the regular season with a trip to the St. Bonaventure Classic (Aug. 31 - Sept. 1). BGSU faces the host Bonnies in the first game and then play Pittsburgh in game two.
BGSU opens its home season the following week with the Diadora Classic, Sept. 7-8, with Duquesne, Detroit and St. Francis (N.Y.) competing. Two weeks later the Falcons host Ohio State on Friday, Sept. 20 at 2 p.m.
Head Coach Mel Mahler and his Falcons begin Mid-American Conference play when it travels to defending conference champion Kentucky on Sept. 27 for a 7:30 p.m. matchup.
The Falcons continue league play by hosting Buffalo on Sept. 29 before trips to Northern Illinois (Oct. 4), Michigan (Oct. 9) and Western Michigan (Oct. 18).
Then Bowling Green hosts its longest homestand of the year when it ends its regular-season schedule with five home games. Included in the list will be Marshall (Oct. 20), IPFW (Oct. 25), Akron (Oct. 27), Michigan State (Nov. 1) and Cleveland State (Nov. 3).
The MAC Tournament is scheduled to begin Nov. 8 in Kalamazoo, Mich. with the MAC Championship slated for Nov. 17 at the highest seed remaining.
