Quoting Scott Paluch
I am tremendously excited to come back to Bowling Green and get the opportunity to be right back at my alma mater as head coach of the hockey team. Paul alluded to having a bond and a special feeling for Bowling Green and this is what makes it so special. Right here the commitment by the students, the commitment from the families, the commitment from the players, and everybody associated. This is what makes it enjoyable. I can't tell you how excited I am right now. I want to thank President Ribeau and Paul Krebs for this opportunity and I really look forward to the opportunity to lead my alma mater. As Paul mentioned, Amy and I are both grads and are excited to come back to a town that is near and dear to our hearts and once again it is so good to see friends, family, supporters, students it's a great feeling here. It's wonderful to be back in town.
I met with the players here today and they're just as excited as I am to move forward. As a matter of fact in about five minutes most of the guys are taking off to get right straight to the weight room, is that correct? Make sure none of them are late. Once again, I am tremendously excited to be here and I look forward to all the good times as there were in the past and many good times from this point forward with Bowling Green hockey.
Question: How much do you know about this team right now that you're taking over?
Well, I know I had a chance to meet this team on Friday, I had a chance to spend some time with them today, and I know that this team here is really ready to move forward. They're committed now to taking steps to get stronger, become a close team over the next six months leading into October, become extremely close, become good teammates and really get ready for October, when we start the season.
Question: What do you see as the task ahead immediately for you as you start rebuilding so that they can duplicate some of the things you see on the wall behind you?
Obviously, this is what makes Bowling Green extremely special, the players that have been here, the tradition. As I mentioned earlier, I feel extremely fortunate and honored to be taking over a program as rich in tradition as Bowling Green. The players that have played here, the championships that have been won, the championships that were close to being wonS
Question: Can you take us through the process of how this all came about?
Well, obviously the process of coming in this situation has to do with the great times I had as a player here at Bowling Green and some great times coaching here at Bowling Green. I am very fortunate to have gone on to Boston College, had some success at Boston College. The situation arises at this time for a coaching change and I don't think there was any situation that could have worked out for myself. An opening comes around, this is the place I want to be. I've had this coaching dream for a long time, the opportunity arises and I want to again thank President Ribeau and Paul Krebs for this opportunity.
Question: What are your thoughts on the CCHA?
I'm not only coming back to Bowling Green, I'm also coming back to the CCHA. Obviously, in my mind, as a player, from a coach in another league, the CCHA is, in my mind, one of the finest if not the finest college hockey conference in America. Certainly, teams are competing for championships every weekend, Friday and Saturday, all the way through. You're looking at games in the CCHA that are tremendous all the way through the last five minutes of a game, it's a one-goal hockey game.
