Bowling Green, Ohio - Keith Noftz, who has spent eight seasons as an assistant coach for the Bowling Green State University men's basketball team, has resigned to pursue other coaching opportunities. A search for his replacement will begin immediately.
"I'm extremely grateful to have enjoyed a lot of special years at BGSU," said Noftz. "The last five years with Coach (Dan) Dakich have been extremely rewarding both personally and professionally."
"Keith has not only been a very valuable member of our staff and the BGSU community as well," said men's basketball coach Dan Dakich. "I wish him well in whatever he decides to do."
During the past eight years at BGSU, Noftz, 46, has been a part of two MAC Championship teams and three NIT appearances, and seen three players - Antonio Daniels, Anthony Stacey and Keith McLeod - earn MAC Player of the Year accolades. Prior to coming to BG, he spent two seasons as the head coach at John Adams High School in South Bend, Ind.
The Clyde, Ohio, native was one of the most successful high school basketball coaches in Ohio and Indiana over his 16-year career. During that time, Noftz's teams compiled a 208-151 record and won two league championships, six sectional titles, three regional titles, and made three appearances in the state finals.
Noftz earned his undergraduate degree from Heidelberg College in 1978 in mathematics/business. He played two seasons of basketball at Otterbein before transferring to Heidelberg where he finished his career.
