Connelly Earns Third Coach of the Year Honors

Bowling Green mentor, Dan Connelly, was chosen as the Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year by league coaches. Connelly led the Falcons to a perfect 6-0 conference record and a 19-5 overall mark to become the winningest squad in school history. This is Connelly's third Coach of the Year award, as he also earned the honor in 1997 and 1999.
Senior Gymnast of the Year: Bowling Green senior Marny Oestreng was also named MAC Senior Gymnast of the Year. Oestreng competed in every meet for the Falcons during her senior season and stands second in the conference on the floor. A four-time Gymnast of the Week this season, she is the Falcons' all-time top performer in each of the four events and in the all-around. Oestreng leads the conference with most championship wins, posting nine event titles. The 1999 NCAA National Champion on the floor event, Oestreng was named the Gymnast of the Year and Freshman of the Year during her first year.
MAC Regular Season Champions: The Mid-American Conference honored Bowling Green as the league's regular season champion. The Falcons posted a perfect 6-0 record in league meets and a 19-5 mark overall. The 2002 BGSU squad now holds the mark as the winningest team in school history.
