Falcon Golfers Finish Fifth at Bronco Invitational

Portage, Mich. - Bowling Green's Shelley Binzel shot a second-round low of 77 on Monday to finish fifth overall at the Western Michigan Bronco Invitational. Her two-round score of 159 helped the Falcons finish fifth as a team with a score of 660 in the two-day invite. BGSU finished behind tournament winner Toledo (643), Eastern Michigan (649), Oakland Univ. (655) and Western Kentucky (659).
Binzel carded an 82 on Sunday, placing her not even in the top-15. However, her score of 77, the best of the day and of the tournament, on Monday moved her into the top-five.
Also placing among the top-15 was sophomore Jenny Schnipke, carding a 165 (79, 86) for 14th overall. Other Falcons included Shannon Smith (T-31st, 171), Stephanie Elsea (T-31st, 171) and Emily Hassen (52nd, 182).
The Falcons are back at it next weekend with a trip to the Illinois Invitational (April 12-13) in Champaign, Ill.
