Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University men's and women's swimming coach Randy Julian has accepted a post with USA Swimming to serve as the Sport Development Coordinator for the central United States. He will relocate to Colorado Springs in the coming weeks.
"This is really an awesome opportunity," said Julian who has coached the Falcons for the past seven years. "This is a grass-roots level situation where you work with clubs, coaches and local swimming associations. There is a lot of travel involved and I'm really excited about this."
Julian came to BGSU in 1995 after serving as an assistant coach at Notre Dame from 1990-95. He also was an assistant coach at his alma mater, Southern Illinois-Carbondale, from 1988-90.
A native of Dallas, Texas, Julian swam competitively at Lamar University and was an NAIA national qualifier. He was active in coaching on the club level in Texas from 1975-88.
"The opportunity to work with USA Swimming, which is the top of our industry in this country, was the major attraction for me," said Julian. "It has been an incredible experience for me here at BGSU and I think this will be a great situation for someone to come into. I think we have the best women's program we have had in more than 10 years. The MAC is a premier conference and BGSU is a great place to come and get your education at."
