BGSU Baseball Moves Into Next Phase Of Steller Field Renovations
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University Athletics has announced a new video board for Steller Field. The project will be unveiled during the upcoming 2027 season. For Steller Field, the video board will be the next phase in the facility's renovation, replacing the previous scoreboard with new technology and digital capabilities, aiding in elevating the fan experience at the venue. Â
Â
Thanks to the generosity of The Dana L. Dowers Family, BGSU Baseball was able to purchase a new state-of-the-art scoreboard at Steller Field, enhancing the game day experience for student-athletes, alumni and fans for years to come. A 1979 Bowling Green baseball alumnus, Dowers has been one of the driving forces behind the resurgence of Falcon Baseball. As a member of the BGSU Baseball Alumni Advisory Group, he played a pivotal leadership role in the successful effort to save the program in 2020 and has remained deeply committed to its long-term success. Through his leadership, philanthropy and ability to rally fellow alumni, Dowers has helped generate significant support for the program, including the transformational renovation of Steller Field. His unwavering commitment to BGSU Baseball continues to strengthen the program and create lasting opportunities for future generations of Falcons.Â
Â
"This project is a great example of the tremendous community around Bowling Green and the support of our athletic program," said BGSU Vice President of Athletics Strategy Derek van der Merwe. "We are grateful to The Dana L. Dowers Family for their generosity that will impact Falcons for generations and enhance our BGSU baseball game day experience, making it one of the best in not only the Mid-American Conference, but the state of Ohio."Â
Â
At Steller Field, the video board will add the Falcons to a select number of Mid-American Conference institutions with a video board at their baseball facility. The next phase in the Steller Field renovations, the new video board will stand in the same spot that the previous scoreboard occupied, but with numerous enhancements to the fan experience. Standing approximately 12 feet tall and 25 feet wide, complete with custom Bowling Green signage, the new video board will allow for in-game data to be shared with fans. This includes pitch speed, batter information and more that can now be digitally delivered in real time. Â
Â
"The video board addition is another important step in our program's trajectory," said head baseball coach Kyle Hallock. "We have seen what a board like this one can do in terms of player development by providing instant feedback during gameplay and batting practice when paired with Trackman. The new board will also enhance our fans' game day experience with visual effects and a variety of information it will be able to provide. We are very fortunate and blessed to continue to have this level of support for our program.Â
Â
"Specifically, we are very appreciative and grateful to The Dana L. Dowers Family for their backing of this video board project. The Dowers family is deeply committed to Bowling Green State University and are a significant reason as to why our BGSU Baseball program survived, and now thrives."
