Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University student-athlete D'Arcy McConvey has been named to the 2002 Verizon Academic All-District IV University Division At-Large Team. McConvey, a native of Richmond Hill, Ontario, has been named to the second team.
McConvey, who just completed his sophomore season on the BGSU hockey team, holds a 3.86 GPA with a major in financial economics. He was named All-CCHA Academic Honorable Mention earlier this spring.
He was second on the Falcon squad last season in overall scoring (11-18--29), as well as goals (11), assists (18) and shots (98). McConvey finished with 10 points (4 goals, 6 assists) in BGSU's final seven games last year.
The district team is made up of student-athletes from NCAA Division I schools in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.
To qualify, student-athletes must hold at least sophomore status, be a starter or important reserve on the team, and carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher. Team members are selected by a vote of members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) within the district.
The Falcons finished 9-25-6 overall last season and 7-18-3 in the CCHA.
