BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University women's tennis head coach Penny Dean has announced the team's schedule for the 2002-03 season. The Falcons are slated to play 10 home dual matches plus one tournament. That tourney, the BGSU Invitational, will kick off the season for the Brown and Orange on Sept. 28-29 at Keefe Courts.
The Falcons will play in fall tournaments hosted by Michigan and Louisville, as well as participating in the ITA Regional Tournament and the Fall MAC Indoor Tournament.
BGSU is scheduled to open the Mid-American Conference slate with a match against arch-rival Toledo on Feb. 28. The Falcons conclude the regular season with three home conference matches in mid-April, before heading to Ypsilanti, Mich., for the MAC Championships April 24-27.
Dean welcomes back eight of last year's nine letterwinners, having lost only Devon Bissinger to graduation. The returnees include senior Alyson Gabel, juniors Gaby Coello, Jessica Johnson and Lisa Maloney, and sophomores Cameron Benjamin, Laura Kokinda, Lindsey Mix and Susan Schoenberger.
In addition to the BGSU Invitational, the Falcons are slated to play one other home match during the fall portion of the season, hosting Oakland at Keefe Courts on Oct. 15.
