The Bowling Green State University football team, coming off a 51-28 win against Missouri, will face another Big 12 foe, the University of Kansas, in its road opener. BGSU is 5-0 against non-conference opposition under second-year head coach Urban Meyer, and the Falcons are 4-0 against schools from BCS-affiliated conferences during that time. Last year, BGSU defeated Missouri, 20-13, and Northwestern, 43-42, on the road. BGSU is 3-1 against Missouri and 0-7 all-time against the rest of the Big 12.
BGSU posted the top turnaround in NCAA I-A last fall, going 8-3 after finishing with a 2-9 record in 2000.
GO WEST
The 2002 season marks the Falcons' first as a member of the Mid-American Conference's West Division. BGSU was moved to the West after spending five seasons in the East Division. The move was a result of the MAC admitting the University of Central Florida (UCF) as a football-only member and placing the Golden Knights in the East Division.
RECEIVING VOTES
The Falcons' impressive showing against Missouri saw them earn two votes in this week's ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll where they are ranked 40th.
