FALCONS OPEN MAC PLAY
The Bowling Green State University football team will put its 3-0 record on the line in a Homecoming contest against Ohio. Since 1982, the Falcons are 9-1 at home against the Bobcats, with Ohio coming away with a 23-21 triumph in Perry Stadium in 2000.
The Falcons are 48-22-10 in Homecoming games, including a 24-7 win over Kent State last season.
LONGTIME RIVALS
The Falcons and Bobcats will be meeting for the 52nd straight season, the third longest continous rival on BGSU's schedule. BGSU has hooked up with Kent State 56 straight years and Toledo in 54 straight seasons. The Falcons move to the MAC's West Division ended a 52-year series with Miami.
RECEIVING VOTES
The Falcons' are ranked 33rd in the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll and 37th in the Associated Press poll entering the Ohio game.
STREAKING
A win over Kansas gave the Falcons a six-game winning streak dating back to last year. That is the longest for BGSU since the 1994 season when it captured nine straight contests. The Falcons have the third longest active winning streak in the country.
ALLS, GLANTZIS AND FLEMING HONORED
The Falcons saw a trio of players earn MAC West Division Player of the Week honors after their win at Kansas. Senior RB Joe Alls rushed for a career-high 161 yards and threw a 15-yard TD to earn offensive honors, senior NG Alex Glantzis had nine tackles, three TFLs and forced two fumbles to take home defensive accolades, and senior P Pat Fleming had a 48.5 yard average to garner special teams recognition.
CONTINUING A GOOD START
The Falcons will be looking to start 4-0 for the first time since winning its first 11 games in 1985.
MICHAEL JORDAN
The Falcons are 10-0 under Urban Meyer when the opposition is held to 23 points or less.
AMONG THE NATION'S BEST
Junior QB Josh Harris is leading the nation in scoring (16.0)... sophomore K Shaun Suisham is fifth in field goals (2.0) and 11th in scoring (11.0)... Fleming is eighth in the country in punting (44.3) ... senior WR Robert Redd is ninth in the nation in receiving yards (113.3) and 17th in receptions (6.3).
As a team, the Falcons are third in the country in rush defense (60.6), fourth in scoring offense (43.7), sixth in punting (40.5), eighth in total offense (469.3), and ninth in rushing offense (232.0).
