BGSU Women's Golf Third at End of Day One of Cardinal Classic

Yorktown, Ind. - The Bowling Green State University women's golf team is in third place, one shot out of second place and three shots out of first place, after day one of the Ball State Cardinal Classic. BGSU (307) is close behind both second-place Western Michigan (306) and first-place Eastern Michigan (304) after the first round.
The two-day tournament concludes on Sunday, Sept. 8, with a final 18-hole flight at The Players Club in Yorktown, Ind.
Junior Jenny Schnipke is tied for second place overall after carding a 73 on Saturday. The Kalida, Ohio, native is just two shots behind leader Kristina Reel of Eastern Michigan (71). Teammates Shelley Binzel and Julie Wise both carded a 77 on Saturday and are tied for 16th place, while Stephanie Elsea (T-27th, 80) and Amanda Schroeder (T-48th, 84) are the fourth and fifth Falcons in the tournament, respectively. It is Schroeder's first collegiate tournament (freshman).
