Falcons Overcome 24-Point Deficit To Defeat Kent State, 78-74

KENT, Ohio (AP) - John Reimold scored 23 points as Bowling Green rallied from a 24-point deficit to beat Kent State 78-74 Saturday, ending the Golden Flashes' Mid-American Conference record 17-game winning streak.
Kevin Netter added 18 points and the go-ahead free throws with 1:03 remaining for the Falcons (8-4, 4-0), who handed Kent State its first MAC loss since a 66-65 setback at Buffalo on Jan. 9, 2001.
Eric Haut had 16 points, Anthony Wilkins scored 14 and Nate Gerwig 13 for the Golden Flashes (9-2, 2-1), who led 57-33 with 19:12 remaining.
The Falcons cut the Golden Flashes' lead to nine points with 8:37 remaining. After Haut made a 3-pointer to put Kent State up 12, Bowling Green went on a 10-0 run over the next four minutes to pull to 68-66 with 3:34 left.
Reimold scored seven points in the surge - on a layup, 3-pointer and two free throws - and added a 3-pointer with 2:08 to play to get Bowling Green within 72-71.
Netter hit two free throws to put the Falcons ahead 73-72, and Jabari Mattox made two more with 31 seconds remaining to make it 75-72.
Antonio Gates ended Kent State's two-minute scoreless streak on a layup with 14 seconds to go, but Bowling Green sealed the win by making 3-of-4 free throws, including two from Mattox.
Mattox and Cory Eyink scored 11 points apiece for the Falcons, who held Kent State to 29 percent shooting (8-of-28) in the second half.
Gates had eight points, seven rebounds, six assists and six turnovers for Kent State.
