With 21 points, sophomore John Reimold posted his third effort of 20 points or more this season and second in three games. He had 23 last week at Kent State and 24 against Cleveland State In six conference games, Reimold is shooting a team-best 57.6 from the field (34/59) and is averaging 16.5 points and team-high six rebounds.
Senior Cory Ryan broke out of a long distance slump when he made a season-high five of nine three point field goals against the Zips and scored 17 points, his most ever against a MAC opponent (16 vs. NIU in 2002) From December 7 to January 14 (a span of nine games) Ryan made just five of 30 from three-point range. Ryan is averaging 10.4 points in his last eight games however.
Junior Jabari Mattox had a career-high 10 assists. His previous best was nine against Urbana in 2000.
Sophomore Cory Eyink had his third straight double-figure scoring effort with 13 points. He is averaging 12.7 points and has made 62.5 percent of his shots during the last two games (10/16).
Freshman Raheem Moss saw his most extensive MAC playing time (10 minutes) and responded with four points and a steal.
During the MAC season, BGSU's defense has been outstanding. Against Akron, they held a team 39 points below its conference games only average of 99 points per game. Overall in three home MAC games, BGSU is allowing just 58.6 points per game on 37.7 % shooting overall and 18.0 accuracy from three point range.
The Falcons drew a season-high 3,779 fans to Anderson Arena.
The Falcons shot 51.1% from the field against the Zips and improved to 4-0 when they have shot better than 50 percent from the floor. Ironically, all four of those games have come against MAC opponents (Buffalo, Northern Illinois, Kent State and Akron).
In the last six games, BGSU has shot 77.9 from the free throw line (131/168).
BGSU is 21-1 at home since the end of the 2001 season.
BGSU is now 17-0 when holding opponents to 60 points or less since the 2000-2001 season.
