BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (bgsufalcons.com) - Bowling Green State University women's basketball coach Curt Miller met with the media on Monday afternoon (Jan. 20), and shared his thoughts on the win over Central Michigan and the upcoming games at Ball State and Western Michigan. Here are some of the things coach Miller had to say...
"The Central Michigan game was a great win for us. We matched our win total (from last year). We rebounded, no pun intended, from the Toledo loss. We had a couple tough days of preparation (prior to the CMU game), and concentrated on defense and rebounding. We got back to the basics, and carried that over into the Central game."
"We're ecstatic to be 9-6, and we're feeling good about where we're at right now, but we now embark on a very tough road stretch."
"We play the four toughest teams in the West (as voted in the MAC preseason poll) on the road to start the conference season. But, we need to go in there and battle. We fell behind early at Northern (Illinois), and realized that you can't dig yourself a hole early on the road. We battled the whole time at Toledo, and felt better about ourselves."
"Now, we go into (road games vs.) two offensive juggernauts, in Ball State and Western Michigan. Again, we'll see where we're at, and make any needed adjustments. We get the big dogs right away."
(On the team's confidence at this point in the season:)
"They're confident. We didn't want one bad half against Northern Illinois to take away the confidence that we've built over a big stretch of the season. Wins are big, still, to our psyche, and the Central Michigan win was big. Obviously, wins cure a lot of evils. As long as we stay in the right frame of mind, and keep fighting and believing in each other, we're headed in the right direction."
