KALAMAZOO, Mich. -
BGSU HEAD COACH CURT MILLER:
"They (WMU) are so talented offensively. As poor as we played in the first half, you can go to halftime and tell your kids that they weren't very good, either. They are so talented that are not going to miss the shots that they were getting. They're going to start making them. I think they moved the ball better (in the second half). We got a little bit tired, but Casey (Rost) and Curleta (Harris) are just such good shooters that, sooner or later, they are going to knock down shots. We're just fortunate that we shut Harris down."
"(Western) has settled into their 2-3 zone, and it's frustrating as a coach, because all week long we've practiced against a 2-3 zone. And, we talked about deflections and tips from behind, and how they're in passing lanes. That's all we talked about, is being able to handle their pressure 2-3. And, we come in here and commit our most turnovers of the year."
"I subbed liberally, and I challenged our kids, because their kids are going to play 37 or 38 minutes, and are kids weren't. But, we have a couple starters under the weather a little bit, and the flu bug took its toll. They just got a lot of good leadership out of their starters. We got 15 points from our starters. They got 64. Our bench played great, but when you get so few points out of the starters, it's going to be an early night."
"Our freshmen and sophomores played well, and that's encouraging for the future of the program ... We're still in the hunt here. We took care of business at home, and we survived our first six games. (Note: BGSU won two home games and lost four road games, against the teams picked to finish first through fourth in the West Division, to start MAC play) ... We're 2-4, and you wish you could have pulled an upset in one of those four road games. But, our long-term goal is to finish in the top-eight seeds, and earn a home game for the first round. We're still in OK shape."
