The Bowling Green State University football team went to Eastern Michigan and recorded a 33-20 win Saturday night (Oct. 18). Some notes and numbers from the game...
The Falcons improve to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in Mid-American Conference play ... BGSU has begun the conference portion of the season with three wins for the second consecutive year ... the 2002 Falcons won the first five MAC games en route to an overall start of 8-0.
The Falcons had a total of 492 yards of offense, including 305 on the ground ... three BGSU rushers had over 75 yards in the win.
Sophomore P.J. Pope carried the ball 22 times for 122 yards to lead the Brown and Orange ... Pope surpassed the 100-yard mark for the second time this season and the fourth time in his career ... his other game over the century mark in 2003 was a career-high 162-yard performance against Liberty.
Senior QB Josh Harris ran for 96 yards on 12 carries, and had three of BGSU's four touchdowns on the ground ... the multiple-TD game was the 13th of his career, and the third this season ... Harris has had three rushing scores on two other occasions, in 2002 contests at Central Michigan and Toledo.
Sophomore B.J. Lane had seven carries for a career-high 76 yards in the win ... Lane's previous career-best performance was 75 yards in last season's win over Ohio ... Lane's 10.9 yards-per-carry average also was a career best.
The Falcons just missed having two rushers reach the century mark for the first time in over a decade ... the last time two BG carriers each amassed 100 yards came on Oct. 31, 1992, when Zeb Jackson (24-130) and LeRoy Smith (17-111) each turned the trick in a 44-24 win over Miami.
Josh Harris now has a total of 40 touchdowns in his career, and 37 rushing TDs, ranking second in school history on both lists ... Dave Preston (1973-76) had 41 total TDs, including 39 on the ground, in his storied Falcon tenure.

The Falcons' team rushing total of 305 yards marked the second time this season that BGSU has surpassed the 300-yard mark ... the Falcons rushed for a total of 367 yards in the win over Liberty ... BGSU has rushed for over 200 yards five times in this season's seven games.
Defensively, BGSU's five quarterback sacks tied a season high ... the Falcons also had five sacks vs. Liberty.
Sophomore cornerback Jelani Jordan had a career-high 13 tackles and recorded the first sack of his career.
Junior linebacker Jovon Burkes had a season-high 12 stops and led the team with 2.5 tackles for a loss. Sophomore linebacker Ted Piepkow had 11 tackles.
Next up for the Falcons is a home contest vs. nationally-ranked Northern Illinois next Saturday (Oct. 25) at Perry Stadium ... the Falcons and Huskies are both 3-0 in MAC play, and are part of a three-way tie (with Toledo) for the West Division lead ... the BGSU-NIU game, scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start, will be the Falcons' first-ever home game to be televised nationally, as ESPN2 will carry the contest.
