BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Amber Mareski is the Bowling Green State University Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Mareski, a junior on the BGSU volleyball team, helped the Falcons to a pair of wins last weekend.
Mareski, a native of St. Clair, Mich. (St. Clair HS), hit .455 with a total of 132 assists as the Falcons went 2-1 last week. In MAC play, she hit over .500 in both of BGSU's MAC matches, as the Falcons beat both Toledo and Northern Illinois.
Mareski, a setter, averaged 12.00 assists per game, including 12.63 apg in league play. She also averaged 1.00 kills, 0.36 aces, 1.91 digs and 0.82 blocks per game on the week. Mareski hit .556 (6-1-9) with 44 assists, seven digs and three blocks in the Falcons' four-game win over UT. The next night, she had a .571 hitting pct. (4-0-7) with 57 assists, nine digs and three more blocks in BG's four-game victory vs. NIU. On the year, Mareski is hitting .258 with 8.83 assists per game.
Mareski, a music education major, maintains a 3.40 cumulative grade point average.
The Falcons hit the road for matches at Eastern Michigan (Oct. 24) and Central Michigan (Oct. 25) this weekend.
