BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) - P.J. Pope ran for two touchdowns and Bowling Green racked up 508 total yards in a 23-3 victory over Central Michigan on Saturday night.
Pope rushed for 88 yards on 22 carries and scored on a pair of 1-yard runs which began and ended the scoring for the Falcons (4-1, 1-0 Mid-American Conference).
Josh Harris completed 25 of 35 passes for 298 yards, setting up three Shaun Suisham field goals. Suisham converted kicks covering 28, 26 and 25 yards.
Terrence Jackson picked up 123 yards on 28 carries for the Chippewas (2-3, 0-2).
The Falcons dominated the statistics in first downs (31-17), yardage (508-284) and time of possession (by more than 7 minutes).
Bowling Green took the opening kickoff and drove 69 yards in 11 plays capped by Pope's short plunge. Suisham's 28-yard field goal made it 10-0 just before half, with Central Michigan coming back to cover 53 yards in 12 plays resulting in Mike Gruzwalski's 33-yard field goal with 28 seconds left in the second quarter.
Gruzwalski missed kicks from 32 and 23 yards. Suisham also missed two attempts, but converted two kicks in the second half as the Falcons pulled away.
Pope ended up with six catches for 48 yards with teammate Cole Magner adding 66 yards on his six catches.
