KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) - Josh Harris threw for 286 yards and two touchdowns and ran for a pair of scores as Bowling Green defeated Western Michigan 32-21 on Saturday.
The Falcons (5-1, 2-0 Mid-American Conference) recorded 510 yards of total offense against the MAC's No. 2 defense. Western Michigan (3-3, 2-1) hadn't given up that many yards in four seasons.
The win vaulted Bowling Green past the Broncos and into a tie for first in the MAC West along with No. 16 Northern Illinois and Ball State. The Falcons' only loss this season was to Ohio State.
Cole Magner caught 11 passes for 140 yards for Bowling Green, including two touchdowns in the first half when the Falcons cruised ahead 19-0.
The Broncos answered with three touchdowns in the second half, all on passes by quarterback Chad Munson, who finished 18-of-36 for 330 yards. But twice in the last eight minutes Munson was sacked on fourth-down plays.
Harris, averaging 304.4 yards of total offense a game, scored on runs of 1 and 5 yards and completed eight consecutive passes at one point in the second half.
Bowling Green cornerback Janssen Patton tied his own school record by grabbing three of the Falcons' four interceptions, the last one with 1:06 left.
