Van De Walle Receives Honorary Alumnus Award

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University volleyball coach Denise Van De Walle has received an Honorary Alumnus Award from the University. Van De Walle received her award at the Alumni Association's annual Alumni Awards Dinner on Friday (Oct. 3).
Van De Walle, in her 21st season as the Falcon head coach, is the winningest coach in Mid-American Conference history. She serves on the BGSU Administrative Staff Council and the Student Affairs Advisory Board. She also is involved with the Bowling Green Christian student organization H2O and is the Fellowship of Christian Athletes faculty adviser, and has traveled the world teaching volleyball and sharing her Christian faith.
Van De Walle has been on the USA Volleyball Board of Directors for five years and the American Volleyball Coaches Association Board of Directors for eight years, serving as the president of the AVCA and Division I representative. Also a member of the AVCA Top 25 coaches voting poll, she was head coach of two Olympic festivals, USA Senior Elite Coach, USA National Team apprentice coach, four-time MAC Coach of the Year and a NCAA "Yes" clinic coach several times.
Kermit Stroh also received an Honorary Alumnus award at the dinner, while Shaun Moorman received the Recent Graduate Award. Gregory T. DeCrane and Joseph Martini received Alumni Service Awards.
The Falcon volleyball team will be home for a pair of matches this weekend, taking on Central Michigan Friday (Oct. 10) and Kent State Saturday (Oct. 11). Both matches begin at 7:00 p.m. at Anderson Arena.
