BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Taylor Twite is the Bowling Green State University Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Twite, a junior on the BGSU volleyball team, paced the Falcons in several categories last week.
Twite, a native of Lapeer, Mich. (East HS), had three double-digit kill efforts in as many matches last week. She led the Falcons with 20 kills in a five-game loss to Akron last Wednesday (Nov. 12), adding a match-high seven blocks vs. the Zips.
Then, Twite hit .278 with 14 kills and three blocks in Friday's match at Western Michigan. The next night, she had 10 kills and two blocks at Northern Illinois. On the week, she led BGSU in kills (44) and kills per game (3.67).
Twite, a middle childhood education major, maintains a 3.60 cumulative grade point average.
BGSU ended the 2003 season with a loss at Eastern Michigan Tuesday (Nov. 19), in the first round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament. Twite, one of just two players to start all 31 matches, led the Falcons (12-19) in kills (460), kills per game (3.83), hitting percentage (.297) and points (526.5), and was second in all four blocking categories (16 solo, 85 assists, 101 total, 0.84 bpg).
