Bowling Green, Ohio - A number of bench reserved seats ($13) remain for the first-ever all-Ohio matchup in the MAC Championship game. As of Tuesday afternoon, all general admission and chairback reserved seats had been sold. Kickoff is Thursday, December 4 at 7 p.m.
The BGSU ticket office in Anderson Arena will be open Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon. The east side ticket office will open at Perry Stadium on Thursday at 3 p.m.
For just the third time in MAC history, two nationally ranked teams will square off in a league contest. Miami is rated #14 and #15 in the two major polls (AP/ESPN-USA Today), while the Falcons are slated at #20 and #23.
Miami has accepted an invitation to the GMAC Bowl, while the Falcons need a win to ensure a berth in the Motor City Bowl. Otherwise, BGSU will compete with other MAC bowl-eligible teams such as Northern Illinois, Marshall, Toledo and Akron for the second conference bowl slot.
"It has been a memorable season and we hope that all the Falcon faithful will respond as they have in big home games this year," said BGSU head football coach Gregg Brandon. "The two best teams in the league deserve a great environment and I believe that we will give the fans a great game between two long-time rivals. I think its important that fans of the MAC support this game so we can show a national audience that not only does the MAC have big-time college football teams, but that our fan support knows how to brighten the stage when the national spotlight hits. "
Twice this season, Falcon fans have exceeded capacity at Doyt Perry Stadium (28,599). If this game sells out, it would set a new championship game record for attendance breaking the mark of 28,085 set in 1998 when Marshall hosted Toledo. When BGSU and Miami met on November 4, the game drew 28,023. In five games in Huntington, the game averaged 26,714, while in 2001 the game drew 20,025 in Toledo.
