QUOTES FROM BGSU COACH Curt Miller
"(Bucknell) is a talented team offensively, but we thought we could score some points against them. But, I didn't expect 100 points."
(On Lindsay Austin's performance)
"It just shows her character. She's coming off an 0-for-10 performance against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, and probably blamed herself for that loss, which wasn't (her fault). But, she comes back with 21 points, and 15 assists. In 14 years of coaching at the Division-I level, I've never seen an assist-to-turnover ratio like that, 15-to-1, and that includes some people who are now in the WNBA. That is a phenomenal night for Lindsay Austin."
(On Bucknell's Desire Almind)
"Going into the game, we told our kids that she would be the best 'four' player we'd play this year, because she's so athletic and scores in multiple ways. She's the real deal."
"We felt like they have three really talented offensive players, and we wanted to stop the 'big three.' We felt like if we could get one or two of those three shut down, we would be OK. I was disappointed with our performance in the first half, but in the second half, we did a better job of shutting them down. We just wanted to force someone else to (have to) step up and beat us, and fortunately, we got some other (Bucknell) kids to take shots in the second half. And, we got a very gutty performance on the road from our seniors."
"We felt like our depth was better, and we felt like we could score some points. We felt the pace of play needed to be up. (Bucknell) is a team that likes to go up and down the floor, so I knew they would run with us, but they were averaging only about 57 points per game coming into tonight. So, tempo was our number-one key tonight, and we now look a little bit smarter for getting the game up-tempo.'
(On the Falcons' balanced scoring)
"We're 3-2 now on the year, and when we have had balanced scoring, we're 3-0. When we've had one kid step up and have a monster game for us, we've lost. So, certainly, I can keep preaching distribution of the ball and balanced scoring. It's been very successful for us."
"Both teams struggled defensively. It was a fun game for fans to watch, because of all the offense. It was a frustrating game for coaches to watch, because we wanted our teams to get (defensive) stops. But, one thing that really hurt Bucknell was Lindsay Austin's speed, and the tempo of the game."
"Some nights your three-point shots go down, and somenights they don't. When shots are going in from the three-point line, it makes your whole game go better. As many three's as we made, though, an interesting statistic is that we outscored them by 16 points in the paint. The three's were going in, and they had to extend, and it opened up the paint."
"We got great senior leadership tonight, with Stefanie (Wenzel) getting the double-double, and Lindsay's performance. I couldn't be more proud of the seniors. You couldn't have told me that we would score 100 points with a couple of our starters picking up some fouls and maybe not playing their best games. But, it shows the character of this team. We're a little inconsistent at times, but we're going to be pretty good, and I can't wait to get back to Anderson in front of our home fans."
