Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team lost its third starter this season when junior point guard Jabari Mattox suffered an injury to his right knee Wednesday in practice.
Mattox suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and will miss the remainder of the season for the Falcons. He could have surgery to repair the damage as early as this coming Monday.
Mattox was second on the team in minutes played averaging 32.5 per game and was fifth in the MAC in assists at 4.4 per game. The Chicago area native also was averaging 5.4 points per game.
He joins Germain Fitch (knee) and Josh Almanson (ankle) as preseason starters who are unavailable to the Falcons. BGSU currently has six healthy scholarship players, two football players and another walk-on on its active roster.
BGSU will play on ESPN2 Saturday at 5 p.m. (EST) against Illinois-Chicago in the inaugural ESPN Bracket Buster.
