BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Tyler Masters is the Bowling Green State University Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Masters, a senior on the BGSU hockey team, had 31 saves in his lone appearance last weekend.
Masters, a native of Calgary, Alberta, made the 31 stops as the Falcons earned a 3-3 tie at Western Michigan Friday (Feb. 21). The game marked the 10th time in 13 appearances this season that Masters has recorded 30 or more saves. He is averaging 34.8 saves per game, the highest total in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association.
For his career, Masters now has a total of 3,210 saves to rank second in BGSU history. He trails only Gary Kruzich (3,580) on that list.
Masters, a sport management major, has 3.49 cumulative grade point average through the fall, 2002, semester.
The Falcons of head coach Scott Paluch take the final road trip of the 2002-03 regular season, heading to the Soo for a two-game series vs. Lake Superior on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 28-March 1).
