FALCONS ENJOY RARE HOME GAME
The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team, 10-8 overall and 6-4 in the MAC, have played 11 of its first 18 games away from home and will play four of its next five games on the road following Thursday night's home game with Kent State. BGSU closes the MAC season with three straight home games (Miami, Eastern Michigan, Toledo).
BGSU IN FEBRUARY
Since the 1998-99 season, BGSU is 27-9 (75.1%) in the month of February, including an 11-7 (61.1%) mark on the road.
THE SERIES
BGSU leads the series 75-54 following its 78-74 comeback victory over the Golden Flashes at Kent State on January 11. The Falcons rallied from a 24-point second half deficit to snap a six-game losing streak against KSU. The Flashes have won the last two contests in "The House That Roars" 70-67 in 2002 and 70-64 in 2001.
FALCONS LOOKING FOR 100TH VICTORY UNDER DAN DAKICH
BGSU coach Dan Dakich needs one win to become the fifth coach in Falcon history to win at least 100 games in his career. His 60.4 winning percentage is the second best in BGSU history behind Harold Anderson who won 65.5 % of his games. Anderson was the fastest BGSU coach to win 100 games in his career (135 games). With one more Falcon win, Dakich will be the second fastest BGSU bench boss to earn 100 victories in his career. John Weinert accomplished the feat in 188 games, Paul Landis in 197 games and Jim Larranaga in 199 games.
DEFENSE FUELS FALCONS' COMEBACK WIN AT OHIO
BGSU outscored Ohio 27-7 over the final 8:41 of regulation and the five-minute overtime to post a 66-60 overtime triumph in Athens. BGSU held OU to 2/16 (13%) shooting during that same time frame. The Falcons are second in the MAC in steals (8.3) and rank third in the conference in scoring defense (67.2), third in field goal percentage defense (43.5), and second in three-point field goal percentage defense (31.7). Since the 2000-2001 season, BGSU is 18-0 when it holds opponents to 60 points or less and 35-3 over the course of Dakich's six-year tenure.
FALCONS ON TV
The Falcons will make two more appearances on Fox Sports Ohio this season, giving them five on the season. Home games against Kent State (February 6, 8 p.m.) and Western Michigan (February 15, 2 p.m.) will be aired on regional television. BGSU will make its first regular season national television appearance under Dan Dakich when it plays at Illinois-Chicago, February 22 on ESPN2, as part of Bracket Buster Saturday. The Falcons last played a regular season game on ESPN2 during the 1994-95 season (home games vs. Kent State and Ohio).
