Falcons Host Michigan State for Second Time This Season on Saturday (Feb. 8)
Michigan State visits the BGSU Ice Arena for the second time this season on Saturday, Feb. 8 (7:35 p.m. faceoff) in the CCHA Game of the Week, televised live on Fox Sports Detroit. The Falcons defeated MSU at home earlier this season on Nov. 22 in a 3-2 overtime thriller. JR D'Arcy McConvey scored the game-winner at 3:10 of the overtime period.
BGSU vs. Michigan State (15-10-2 overall, 11-7-1 CCHA)
BGSU's 3-2 OT win on Nov. 22 was the first home-victory over the Spartans since Oct. 21, 1995 (0-4-3 in seven games). The win also snapped a 10-game winless streak vs. MSU (0-8-2). However, the Spartans are 9-4-2 since their visit to the BGSU Ice Arena nearly three months ago. Meanwhile, the Falcons are 4-4-1 in their last nine games and are coming off of a five-game road swing.
The Last Time vs. Michigan State...
Both teams traded goals until JR captain D'Arcy McConvey netted the game-winner at 3:10 of the overtime period for a 3-2 Falcon victory. After a scoreless first period, SO Ryan Minnabarriet scored at 18:31 of the second period to tie it at 1-1, and SR Tyler Knight scored at 18:06 of the third period to knot the game again at 2-2 and send it to overtime. SO Jordan Sigalet had 29 saves in the game while BGSU outshot MSU 33-31.

Feb. 1 - Nebraska-Omaha 6, BGSU 3 JR Steve Brudzewski's short-handed goal at 17:42 of the third period brought the Falcons to within one (4-3) before UNO scored the final two goals of the game for a 6-3 win over BGSU. JR Mark Wires scored his third PPG of the series in the first period to knot the game at 1-1 (10:02) before UNO scored the next three goals of the game for a 4-1 lead. FR Mike Falk scored late in the second period (19:10) to keep BGSU close, 4-2. SO Jordan Sigalet had 28 saves on 33 shots faced for the loss. UNO was 2-for-5 on the power play while BGSU was 1-for-6.
Jan. 31 - BGSU 5, Nebraska-Omaha 0 BGSU gained its first road shutout vs. a CCHA opponent in four years with its 5-0 blanking of UNO at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. SO Jordan Sigalet earned his first career shutout with 31 saves and holding UNO to 0-for-6 on its power-play attempts. JR Mark Wires (both PPGs) and Alex Rogosheske (one PPG) each scored twice for BGSU while FR Mike Falk added the fifth goal late in the third period. BGSU was 4-for-8 on its power plays, however UNO held a 31-24 shot advantage in the game.
Jan. 21 - BGSU 4, Wayne State 3 FR Mike Falk scored the game-winner with just 13 seconds remaining in the third period to give BGSU a 4-3 win over Wayne State in Joe Louis Arena on Jan. 21. The Falcons scored three goals in the final 13:25 of the third period, including two from SR Tyler Knight, to overcome a 3-1 deficit. JR Kevin Bieksa scored first for BGSU at 10:25 of the first period with the first short-handed goal of his career. JR Mark Wires assisted on Knight's two goals while Alex Rogosheske, D'Arcy McConvey and Brian Escobedo earned helpers as well. WSU outshot BGSU 35-33 and were 2-for-5 on the power play. SO Jordan Sigalet had 32 saves in net for the Falcons.
Falcons Set to Begin "Home" Stretch of Schedule
With this Saturday's home game with visiting Michigan State at the BGSU Ice Arena, the Falcons are about to begin its longest home-stretch of the season at just the right time. BGSU will play six of its final nine games of the regular season at home, where the Falcons are 4-3-2 this year. The Falcon Icers have had only three losing seasons at home in the 33-year history of the Ice Arena.
Falcons Finish 4-3-1 in January
BGSU finished the month of January with a 4-3-1 record in eight games with its 5-0 win on Jan. 31 at UNO. The last time the Falcons finished above .500 for a month in the regular season was in March of 2001 (2-0-0). The last time the Falcons accomplished that feat with more than two games played was in February of 2000 (4-3-1).
