Track Has Several Top Finishers On Senior Day

Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University indoor track squad celebrated senior day with several top finishers at the BGSU Women's Open on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons were led by fellow seniors Mary Willems and Nicole Carter.
Senior Mary Willems (Huntington, IN) placed first in the weight throw with a mark of 17.37 meters. She also placed second in the shot put with a mark of 12.61 meters.
Senior Nicole Carter (Nicholasville, KY) won the triple jump with a mark of 11.18 meters and placed third in the long jump with a mark of 5.08 meters.
Several other Falcons had impressive showings at their final home meet of the season. Freshman Erin Leeper (West Chester, OH) captured first place in the long jump with a mark of 5.16 meters, a season-best for her. Rachel Perme (Rocky River, OH) won the high jump with a mark of 1.65 meters, also a season high.
In the distance events sophomore Elisa Gould (Yardley, PA) led the way. She posted a time of 5:24.42 in the mile run, capturing first place in the event. Also capturing a first place finish was Melissa Krueger (Beavercreek, OH) who won the 800-meter race with a time of 2:19.28.
In the sprinting events the Falcons had several top finishers. Junior Alicia Taylor (Cleveland Heights, OH) captured first place in both the 60-meter dash and hurdles. Taylor posted times on 7.74 seconds in the dash and 8.71 seconds in the hurdles. Both times are season-bests for Taylor. Sophomore Amber Walker (Detroit, MI) won the 200-meter dash with a time of 25:73 seconds. Bowling Green also won the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:57.87.
Up next the Falcons travel to Findlay, Ohio where they will compete in the All-Ohio Championships on Saturday, February 15 at 10:00 a.m.
