Bowling Green, Ohio - Senior Cory Ryan took home three of the five awards which were presented at the 2002-2003 Bowling Green State University Men's Basketball Banquet. Ryan received the Team Captain award, the Earl Rupright Spirit Award, and was named co-winner of the Antonio Daniels Most Valuable Player with junior Kevin Netter.
Ryan averaged 8.9 points and 3.1 rebounds and led the team with 46 steals. He also had 67 assists and was one of the team's steadiest defenders all season. Most notably, he held Kent State's Antonio Gates to just eight points in the Falcons' 78-74 win at Kent State and held the league's top scorer, Ball State's Chris Williams, scoreless in the first half of the Falcons' 90-81 first round MAC Tournament win over the Cardinals.
Netter, who improved his points per game output by 11.3, shared MVP honors with Ryan. He finished among league leaders in scoring (15.3), field goal percentage (54.7) and blocked shots. He was named honorable mention All-MAC.
Freshman Ron Lewis was named the team's Most Improved Player. He led all MAC freshman in scoring with a 12.1 per game average. He set a MAC and BGSU record by making 22 of 25 free throws against Ball State in the first round of the MAC Tournament and averaged 29 points in two post-season games.
