Falcons Win Non-Conference Action Vs. Pittsburgh And Wilson College

Bowling Green, Ohio - For the second consecutive week the Bowling Green State University gymnastics squad established a new season-best with a combined score of 194.275, edging out the University of Pittsburgh (194.050) and Wilson College (175.300). The Falcons were led by co-captains Melissa Popovich and Ann Marie Kassouf.
Popovich established a new personal-best in the all-around with a combined score of 38.975, capturing first place. Teammate Kassouf finished in second with a total of 38.950.
The Falcons were led by freshman Jessica Guyer on the vault. She placed second in the event with a score of 9.800. Kassouf and Kathy Emerson finished in a tie for fourth place with scores of 9.750.
On the bars the Falcons claimed the top four spots. Sophomore Kari Elste posted a 9.850, taking home first place. She was followed by Popovich (9.825), Kassouf (9.775) and senior Rachel Hall (9.775).
Senior Kathy Emerson posted a 9.900 on the beam, the highest any Falcon has posted on that event all season long. Emerson finished first in the event.
The Falcons ended the afternoon on the floor where Guyer led the way with a 9.825 on the floor exercise. Pia Sjovall and Popovich finished in a tie for second place with a score of 9.825.
Up next the Falcons travel to Columbus, Ohio, where they will compete in the All-Ohio Championships on Saturday, March 8. The meet is set for 7:00 p.m.
