The Falcons rallied from a halftime deficit (37-32) for the second straight game and for the fifth time this season. BGSU also came back from an 11-point EMU lead (24-13 with 11:29 to go in the first half) giving the Falcons their fourth win after trailing by 10 points or more this season (24 at Kent State, 16 at Ohio and 11 vs. Cleveland State).
BGSU committed a season-low 10 turnovers and had a season-high six blocked shots, including a season-best four by junior Kevin Netter.
Senior Cory Ryan's three-pointer with 10 seconds left proved to be the game-winner. Ironically, the last time BGSU won a game with a late three-pointer was a year ago tomorrow when Keith McLeod hit a game-winning three-pointer with six seconds left against Akron in the MAC Quarterfinals on March 7, 2002. Ryan finished with 17 points and played all 40 minutes for the second straight game.
With two three-pointers, sophomore John Reimold moved into second place on the BGSU single-season list with 74 three-point field goals made.
Freshman Ron Lewis had a team-high 18 points and also added six rebounds, four assists and two steals. With his 10 free throw attempts (he made eight), Lewis has now shot 10 or more FT's in a game six times. He is averaging 15 points and six rebounds in his last seven games.
Sophomore Cory Eyink made a game-saving steal with 2.8 seconds left and led the Falcons with eight rebounds. He had three assists and two steals and played a full 40 minutes for the third time this season.
BGSU is now 55-10 at home since the 1998-99 season and have won 23 of its last 27 dating back to the end of the 2001 season at Anderson Arena.
With its two defensive stops in the final 10 seconds, BGSU improved to 4-0 in the MAC when it has had to play defense when leading by one or two points in the final minute of a game and 11-3 in similar circumstances over the last two years.
The Falcons also improved to 5-0 in the MAC when it has shot 50% or better. BGSU hit on 51% of its shots Thursday night (25/49).
