CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference office has authorized the release of the MAC Academic Honor Roll for the 2002-03 academic year, and four members of the Bowling Green State University women's golf team were among those honored. The BGSU athletic department had a total of 122 student-athletes selected.
To be eligible, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher. True freshmen and first-year transfers are not eligible, as a student-athlete must have attended the institution for an entire year to qualify for the award.
For the women's golf Falcons, the four honorees include seniors Shelley Binzel and Stephanie Elsea and juniors Kari Evans and Jenny Schnipke. (Note: each player's year of eligibility reflects the 2002-03 academic year).
The Falcons finished sixth out of nine teams at the 2003 MAC Championship. Binzel was named to the All-MAC Second Team for the third time in her career.
BGSU's list of honorees follows. The cumulative GPA figures for each student-athlete are through the fall, 2002, semester, as the nominations were made before the conclusion of the spring, 2003, semester.
