Rick Mauer: BGSU Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Rick Mauer is the Bowling Green State University Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Mauer, a senior on the BGSU football team, helped a Falcons to a lopsided home win to open the 2003 season.

Mauer, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, had a career-high three sacks, totalling 21 yards, as the Falcons posted a 63-13 victory over Eastern Kentucky Thursday night (Aug. 28). Mauer, who had those three sacks in just 15 plays, also forced a fumble in the win.

Mauer, an exercise specialist, has a cumulative grade point average of 3.22.

The Falcons, 1-0 on the young season, now head to Purdue to face the nationally-ranked Boilermakers Saturday (Sept. 6).
