Bowling Green head coach Gregg Brandon
"You don't always get what you want in life; you get what you expect. We
decided that we were going to ride our horse -- Josh (Harris). If Josh Harris
isn't a legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate, then I don't know who is."
Bowling Green quarterback Josh Harris
"This is the greatest team game in the world. This win goes to show what you
can do when you believe in yourself. We were down, but we hung in there.
(Our) defense was strong and helped me out a lot."
Bowling Green wide receiver Charles Sharon
"This win gives us a lot of confidence, knowing we can beat a Big Ten team."
Sharon on his game-winning touchdown reception on 4th and 14 with 2:08
left in the fourth quarter:
"The 4th down play was nothing more than four deep, and someone had to make
the play. Harris threw the ball up, and luckily I came down with it."
Purdue Postgame Quotes
Purdue head coach Joe Tiller
"They made the plays, we didn't. Their guys competed. They did a great job
of competing. There were a lot of plays to be made during the game and we
didn't make them. That's what it comes down to. We needed to make plays.
They had guys running down the middle of the field wide open and had long
receptions. We had the same open chances and dropped the ball or overthrew
the pass. We just didn't make plays when we needed them."
On the 32-yard touchdown reception by Charles Sharon on 4th-and-14...
"The guy made a great play on the ball. That was a play that never should
have happened. We had chances to make interceptions on the drive and dropped
the ball. We had linebackers miss open interceptions."
Purdue quarterback Kyle Orton
"I can't say that it was very good. We were playing a team that we were
better than and we let them stick around the whole game. As an offense, we
had three or four chances to put them away and we didn't do it. There's not
much we can take away from this game other than having a lot of work to do."
On his season-opening performance...
"I need to work on hitting the open guy during clutch time. I didn't do that
today."
Purdue defensive end Shaun Phillips
"Players have to make plays. That's the bottom line. No one was making plays
today. We made some, but we have to make them when they count."
On putting pressure on BGSU quarterback Josh Harris...
"We wanted to control the line of scrimmage and put pressure on the
quarterback. Today we just got covered better than we usually do. Up front,
we have to make that key tackle, make a knockdown or deflect a pass. The
secondary needs to do a better job of covering receivers."
Purdue wide receiver Taylor Stubblefield
"We just didn't execute our plays to the best of our ability. We had
opportunities but didn't capitalize. There were a lot of plays that were
meant to be made but they were left on the field. We can either have this
break our season or we can build on this on win the Big Ten."
On his personal performance of 16 receptions for 139 yards...
"I just remember the last two plays. The team had confidence in me on third
and fourth and ten. Today I didn't do my job to the best of my abilities."
