The Falcons won for the third time in four games and improved to 5-1 in Anderson Arena.
The Falcons made a season-high 27 free throws and took a season-most 36 charity attempts. The Falcons made all 15 of its free throw attempts in the first half. In MAC games, BGSU is averaging 30.3 free throw attempts per game, while opponents are shooting 32 free throws per league game.
BGSU improved to 6-1 this season when leading at the half (their only loss came at IPFW).
The Falcons also improved to 6-0 when shooting more free throws than its opponent (NIU was 17/21 from the line, while BGSU made 27/36).
BGSU also won the battle of the boards (39/31) for the 11th time in 14 games. BGSU outscored NIU 23-9 on second chance opportunities.
Senior Kevin Netter and sophomore Ron Lewis tied for game-high scoring honors with 19 points. Netter also had eight rebounds, including five of the offensive variety. Lewis added six rebounds, four assists and was nine of 12 from the free throw line. It marked the fourth time this season and 12th time in his career that Lewis has attempted 10 or more free throws.
Junior John Reimold added 14 points and leads the Falcons with a 16.7 average against MAC foes this year. He also tied his career-high with three assists.
Junior Josh Almanson had 12 points, five rebounds, two blocks, two steals and tied his career-best with two three-point field goals.
Sophomore Steven Wright had seven points, six assists and three steals.
Freshman Matt Lefeld tied his career-high with three rebounds. Freshman Austin Montgomery also added five boards.
