BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Josh Almanson is the Bowling Green State University Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Almanson, a junior on the BGSU men's basketball team, helped the Falcons to a pair of wins last week.
Almanson, a native of Bowling Green, Ohio (Bowling Green HS), averaged 10.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists as the Falcons swept a pair of MAC games. He had four points, six boards and three assists in BGSU's 77-72 win at Akron (Jan. 14).
Then, Almanson scored 16 points and added a team-high eight rebounds, two assists and two blocks in the Falcons' 86-61 victory over Central Michigan Sunday (Jan. 18). On the week, he shot .600 from the field, going 9-of-15.
In his last six games, Almanson is shooting .579 from the floor and is averaging a team-best 6.8 rebounds. On the year, he is scoring 8.9 points per game and grabbing 5.3 rebounds per game. Almanson has 10.0 points and 6.3 boards in MAC games to date.
Almanson, an integrated social studies major, maintains a 3.10 cumulative grade point average.
The Falcons are 8-8 overall and 4-2 in MAC play, heading into Thursday's (Jan. 22) game at arch-rival Toledo. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at UT's Savage Hall.
