Samantha Meister Earns All-Region Honors

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University women's soccer sophomore Samantha Meister has been named to the Soccer Buzz All-Great Lakes Region Team, the online magazine has announced. Meister, one of just four Mid-American Conference standouts named to the team, earned second-team honors.
Meister becomes the first player in the seven-year history of the BGSU women's soccer program to earn all-region honors by Soccer Buzz.
Meister led the 2003 Falcons in scoring, with 26 points on the season. Last year's MAC Freshman of the Year, she scored nine of her goals vs. MAC opposition in 2003. Meister had 17 points in the Falcons' 12 league regular-season contests, and figured in the scoring of both BG goals (a goal and an assist) in the team's 2-1 win over top-seeded Eastern Michigan in the MAC Tournament quarterfinals.
Her regular-season highlights included scoring a MAC-record four goals in a 4-3 win over Northern Illinois, and the OT winner in another 4-3 contest, at Marshall in a match the Falcons had to win to qualify for the league tourney.
Meister has scored 12 goals in her last 17 MAC regular-season contests. She has 43 career points, ranking fifth in school history, through just 36 career contests. She also ranks fifth in BG history with 16 career goals, and is sixth in school annals with 11 assists.
Meister was named to the All-MAC First Team, and also was chosen to the Academic All-MAC Team in 2003.
MAC players also honored on the Soccer Buzz regional squad included Miami's Ashley Swinehart on the second team, and Kent State's Jackie Pecjak and Western Michigan's Chantel Robinson on the third team.
BGSU finished the season with an overall record of 8-12-3, including a 5-5-2 mark in MAC play. The Falcons of fourth-year head coach Andy Richards, seeded eighth for the league tournament, advanced all the way to the championship match for the second time in those four years.
