FALCONS HAVE WON TWO IN A ROW
The Falcons will enter Wednesday night's game with a two-game winning streak after defeating Lamar, 81-68, at the Rainbow Classic and Eastern Michigan, 84-68, in their MAC home opener. The Falcons have averaged 82.5 points per game and have shot 51.4 from the field after averaging 65.7 points on 42.1 shooting in the first 10 games.
THE SERIES WITH THE CARDINALS
The Falcons hold a 34-29 lead in a series which began in the 1965-66 season. After seeing the Cardinals reel off six straight wins from 1997-2002, BGSU has won three of the last four meetings, including a 90-81 triumph in the teams last encounter in the first round of the 2003 MAC Tournament in Worthen Arena.
A FULL ROSTER
With redshirt sophomore Germain Fitch returning to the lineup against Eastern Michigan, it marked the first time in 39 games (the second game of last year) that BGSU suited up and played all 12 of its scholarship players in a game. Fitch is returning after two reconstructive knee surgeries in the last 12 months. The Falcons also welcomed back sophomore guards Cole Magner and Keon Newson who recently completed their junior years with the BGSU football team. Both played for the Falcon hoop team a year ago when injuries depleted the BGSU roster.
WHAT A WEEK FOR REIMOLD
Junior John Reimold is coming off the best week of his collegiate career. In three games, he averaged 25 points and 5.3 rebounds in leading the Falcons to victories over Lamar and Eastern Michigan (BGSU also played American in Hawaii.). Against Lamar, Reimold scored a career-high 30 points and set other career standards for field goals made (11), attempted (20), and three-point field goals made (7). He also added seven boards against the Cardinals. Against Eastern Michigan, he had 29 points on 11 of 14 shooting and had six rebounds. Easily the heart and soul of this Falcon basketball team, he missed five games earlier this season with a deep thigh bruise. When Reimold plays 20 minutes or more in a game, BGSU is 5-2. Otherwise, the Falcons were 0-5 when Reimold did not play significant minutes.
