BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's soccer team, having begun the second half of the Mid-American Conference schedule Sunday, hits the road for a pair of league matches this weekend ... the Falcons of head coach Andy Richards (4-9-1, 2-4-1 MAC) venture to Northeast Ohio for a Friday (Oct. 15) match vs. Kent State University ... kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at the Kent State Soccer Field ... then, the Brown and Orange will continue eastward, heading to New York for a Sunday (Oct. 17) match against the University at Buffalo ... that contest begins at noon at RAC Field.
COPPES CONTINUES CLIMBING CAREER CHARTS
Senior Kristy Coppes continues to go where no Falcon has gone before ... already the BGSU career scoring leader entering the 2004 season, she is moving up the MAC lists ... the Findlay native scored the second goal of the match in Friday's (Oct. 8) 2-0 win over Miami ... that goal increased her BG career-best totals to 45 goals and 95 points ... she currently ranks sixth in MAC history in goals, and is only two goals shy of third place ... Coppes is seventh all-time among MAC players in points ... the lists follow ...

THAT'S A RECORD (AND SO IS THAT)
In Friday's win over Miami, the Falcons set school single-match records for fewest shots allowed (1) and fewest shots on goal against (0) in a match ... MU's only shot, early in the second half, sailed high over the crossbar ... the old BGSU records of two total shots and one SOG faced came in the Nov. 3, 2000 match vs. Western Michigan.
SNAPPING THE STREAK
Sunday's loss to Ball State snapped a three-match winning streak for the Falcons, the team's first such streak since late October of 2002 ... in the history of the BGSU program (now in its eighth season), the Falcons have never won four consecutive matches in the same season ... BGSU has won five-straight contests on one occasion, spanning the final two matches of the 1997 campaign and the first three of 1998 ... BGSU has won three consecutive matches in the same season seven times in school history.
DON'T CALL IT A COMEBACK
Believe it or not, Sunday's match marked the first time all season that the Falcons had come back to tie a match after falling behind ... Ball State's first goal on Sunday marked the first time in two weeks (since the Sept. 26 match at Eastern Michigan) that the Falcons had trailed in a match ... BGSU tied the contest on junior Britt Anderson's well-placed free kick, but the Cardinals responded with another goal for the 2-1 win.
NARROWING THE SERIES MARGIN
The Falcons trail Miami by an 8-2 margin in the all-time series between the teams ... but, BGSU has now won the last two meetings ... Friday's victory marked the Falcons' first home win over the RedHawks in four tries.
SEPTEMBER'S SCORING SLUMP IS OLD NEWS IN OCTOBER
The Falcons had difficulty finding the back of the net during the month of September, but have gotten off to a good scoring start in October ... despite Sunday's (Oct. 10) 2-1 loss to Ball State, the Falcons still have a 3-1-0 record in the month of October, after going winless (0-7-1) in September ... after scoring a total of only four goals in September's eight matches, the Falcons have scored 11 times in four October contests to date.
SHINGLER'S SHUTOUT STREAK
Ali Shingler posted back-to-back shutouts for the first time in her Falcon career, blanking Akron and Miami ... the redshirt junior now has six career shutouts, the second-most in school history, and had a career-long shutout streak of 268:02, the second-longest such streak in BGSU history, before allowing a goal early in the second half vs. Ball State ... Shingler's streak is second only to the record set by Erika Flanders (340:24) from Sept. 27-Oct. 6 of 2002 ... Shingler lowered her seasonal goals-against average from 2.22 to 1.74 during the two shutouts, and her GAA currently stands at 1.76.
ROSSI MAKES MOST OF CHANCE
Head coach Andy Richards gave freshman Gina Rossi the first starting assignment of her young Falcon career on Friday, and Rossi made the most of her chance, scoring the first goal of the 2-0 win over Miami ... for Rossi, the goal was her second in as many matches ... she picked up her first match-winning goal, and the goal-scoring streak was the first of her career ... Rossi had a three-match scoring streak, with six points during that span, before being held scoreless on Sunday.
BREMEN, EGGLETON PUT TOGETHER SCORING STREAKS
Junior Molly Bremen put together the first four-match scoring streak of her career ... Bremen, who entered the 2004 season looking for her first collegiate point, had seven points over the four matches, culminating with Friday's Miami contest ... she had a three-match assist streak, and now has eight points on the season, good for a second-place tie on the Falcons ... junior Leah Eggleton's assist on Gina Rossi's Friday goal was her team-leading fifth helper of the season ... all five of those assists came in a four-match span, tying her with Bremen for the Falcons' longest point-scoring streak of 2004 ... Eggleton now has a career total of 12 assists, second most among current Falcons (classmate Julie Trundle has 17) and tied with Michelle Lisy (1997-2000) for fifth on the BGSU career list.
CORNERING THE MARKET
The Falcons have taken 105 corner kicks this season, already having set the school single-season record in that category ... the 2003 team took an even 100 corners over 23 matches, an average of 4.35 per contest ... this season's squad is averaging 7.5 corners per match, leading the MAC in both CKs and CKs per contest ... BG has had more corner kicks than the opponents in 13 of this year's 14 matches ... Falcon foes have taken a total of 42 CKs in 2004 ... currently, the Falcons are on pace to set a school record for most corner kicks per match, while holding opponents to the fewest CKs per match in a season ... BGSU's corner kick information by year ...
