Omar Jacobs Named MAC Player of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Bowling Green State University's Omar Jacobs has been named a Mid-American Conference Player of the Week, the conference office has announced. Jacobs, a redshirt sophomore from Delray Beach, Fla., earns the honor for the first time in his BGSU career.

Jacobs, a quarterback, had 462 yards of total offense in the Falcons' 38-14 win at Central Michigan Saturday (Oct. 9). Jacobs completed 31 passes in 42 attempts, for a total of 387 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed for 75 yards to lead the Falcons.
Jacobs leads all sophomore quarterbacks nationally in total offense (341.6), points responsible for (19.2) and passing efficiency (159.5). Overall, he ranks second, third and eighth, respectively, in the nation in those categories.
MAC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
East Division
Offense - Michael Larkin, Miami, wide receiver
(Sr., Cincinnati, Ohio)
Larkin grabbed three scoring passes from 4, 31 and 19 yards to spark the RedHawks' 47-20 triumph over Kent State. On the day, Larkin had 9 receptions for 142 yards, an average of 15.7 yards per catch. Larkin's first score gave Miami its initial lead at 14-13 and his second TD catch, late in the third quarter, put the margin to 14 points at 34-20.
Defense - Jonathan Goddard, Marshall, defensive end

Goddard won his second consecutive honor for his performance in Marshall's 16-13 win at Ohio. Goddard scored Marshall's lone touchdown on a 23-yard interception return to give the Herd a 10-3 lead in the second quarter. Goddard also dominated the game with two sacks for minus 15 yards and two pass break ups. He totaled six tackles, all solo stops, and also blocked a punt.
Special Teams - Ian O'Connor, Marshall, placekicker
(So., Knoxville, Tenn.)
In a 16-13 win at Ohio, O'Connor was 3-for-3 on field goal attempts and added a PAT for 10 points. O'Connor gave the Herd a 3-0 lead with a career-long 52-yard field goal in the first quarter. Marshall led 10-6 at the half before O'Connor added points from 29 and 42 yards for a 16-6 margin. He also punted seven times for an average of 41.4 yards, a long of 64 yards and three punts inside the 20 with two of those inside the 10. O'Connor also handled the kickoff duties and had a touchback.

Offense - Brett Biggs, Akron, running back (career-high 165 yards and three touchdowns in a 44-21 win over Buffalo); Steven King, Buffalo, running back (gained a career-high 120 yards on 12 carries with one touchdown and also had a career-long 52-yard run to set up another score at Akron); Joshua Cribbs, Kent State, quarterback (23-34 passing for 295 yards and 3 TDs vs. Central Michigan); Ahmad Bradshaw, Marshall, running back (led team with 71 yards on 13 carries at Ohio); Marcus Johnson, Miami, defensive line (4 tackles, 3 sacks for minus 20 yards and a forced fumble vs. Kent State); Chris Jackson, Ohio, wide receiver (had a team-high 7 receptions for 65 yards vs. Marshall).
Defense - Dionte Earl, Akron, linebacker (had a season-high 15 tackles and a sack vs. Buffalo); Justin Parrish, Kent State, outside linebacker (5 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss and 2 sacks vs. Central Michigan); Dennis Chukwuemeka, Ohio, linebacker (11 tackles, 7 solo, two sacks and a pass break up vs. Marshall).
Special Teams - Domenik Hixon, Akron, kick returns (93-yard kickoff return vs. Buffalo and returned six punts for 77 yards); Jared Parseghian, Miami, placekicker (4-4 on field goal attempts and a PAT vs. Kent State); Matthew Miller, Ohio, punter (9 punts for a 41.4 average vs. Marshall).
West Division

In helping the Eagles snap a 25-game road losing streak with a 31-24 win at Ball State, Gaines recorded five solo tackles and had seven assists. He added two pass break ups.
Special Teams - Chris Nendick, Northern Illinois, kicker
(Fr., Naperville, Ill.)
Nendick booted a game-winning field goal from 39 yards as time expired for a 30-28 win at UCF as the Huskies improved to 3-0 in MAC play. Nendick was 3-of-4 on field goal attempts, connecting from 24, 28 and his career-long 39 yarder.

Offense - Eric Deslauriers, Eastern Michigan, wide receiver (10 receptions for 209 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-24 win at Ball State); Garrett Wolfe, Northern Illinois, tailback (rushed for 142 yards and a score in a 30-28 win at UCF); Bruce Gradkowski, Toledo, quarterback (23-of-27 passing for 286 yards and three touchdowns, ran for two scores at Western Michigan); Greg Jennings, Western Michigan, wide receiver (four receptions for 129 yards and two touchdowns vs. Toledo).
Defense - Jovon Burkes, Bowling Green, linebacker (career-high 14 tackles, a tackle for a loss and an interception at Central Michigan); Javan Lee, Northern Illinois, linebacker (13 tackles, one tackle for a loss and a pass break up at UCF); Patrick Body, free safety, Toledo (6 tackles, an interception and two pass break ups at Western Michigan).
Special Teams - Nate Fry, Bowling Green, punter (averaged 47 ypk with one inside the 20 at Central Michigan).
