ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Junior Andrea Meister won another singles match to advance to the championship in her flight, as the Bowling Green State University tennis team continued play at the Wolverine Invitational at the University of Michigan. Saturday (Oct. 2) marked day two of the three-day, seven-team invite.
Meister picked up a Saturday win over Annie Diedalis of Xavier, to advance to the final of the Wolverine Flight. Meister will face Marquette's Callan Smith for the title on Sunday (Oct. 3).
Saturday also saw three Falcons -- sophomore Ashley Jakupcin and freshmen Andrea Volle and Jenna Nussbaum -- advance to the consolation finals in their respective flights. Jakupcin is in the Blue Flight, while Volle advanced to the back-draw final in the Maize Flight. Nussbaum will compete in the consolation final in the Wolverine Flight.
Senior Cameron Benjamin lost her semifinal match to Smith, Meister's Sunday opponent, in the Wolverine Flight.
Sophomore Erica Wolfe did not lose a single game en route to a Victors Flight win over Michigan State's Marissa Macholz.
In doubles (just one bracket), the team of Meister and Nussbaum advanced to the consolation final.
The tournament concludes Sunday at U-M's Varsity Tennis Courts.
