BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's soccer team will close the home portion of the schedule Sunday (Oct. 24), as the Falcons take on Western Michigan University at Cochrane Field. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. BGSU is battling for a berth in the Mid-American Conference Tournament, and Sunday's match will feature a number of promotions and giveaways.
The Falcons are offering free admission to youth soccer clubs and high school teams. Teams planning to attend the match are asked to contact the BGSU Athletic Marketing Department at (419) 372-4376 prior to Sunday. Additionally, giveaways will include T-shirts, water bottles, frisbees and other cool prizes. At halftime, kids will have a chance to try to score a goal against noted goalies Freddie and Frieda Falcon. And, fans will get a chance to meet with the BGSU players and coaches following the match.
Sunday is also 'Senior Day' at Cochrane Field, and the seven players in their final season with the program will be recognized in ceremonies prior to the match. The match also will be televised by the Buckeye Cable Sports Network (BCSN) in the Toledo area on a tape-delay basis.
It's also a rematch of the two teams that played in the 2003 MAC Tournament's championship match, and an important contest as the Falcons try to get back to the tournament. That's BGSU women's soccer vs. Western Michigan Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
The Falcons have two home matches remaining on the schedule. BGSU will host Northern Illinois University on Friday (Oct. 22), beginning at 3:00 p.m.
