Falcons Drop in Second Half to Western Michigan, 5-2

KALAMAZOO, Michigan - Bowling Green held Western Michigan to a tie game through the first half on their home turf but the Broncos pulled away in the second to end the game 5-2 in favor of Western Michigan.
Scoring early for the Broncos was Ryan Goldman at the 6:42 mark. Goldman was able to find the net after an assist from teammate Javier Arana.
Despite the Broncos early goal the Falcons game back strong with a goal at the 13:26 mark by Ben Monnette. After a scuffle at the top of the box, Monnette ended it with a strong shot off the keepers' hand and into the upper right corner of the net. This marks Monnette's first goal of the season.
The rest of the first half remained scoreless as the Falcons held the Broncos to a tie game.
Picking it up for the Falcons in the second half was Gregory Hennelly with a goal at the 54:58 mark. Hennelly was in position as Omari aldridge crossed to the far post where Hennelly placed the ball into the net. This marks Hennelly's second goal of the season.
Four minutes later the Broncos of Western Michigan took control of the match that the Falcons were never able to get back.
In goal for the Falcons was Tyler Dollins who had many encounters with Western Michigan's Ryan Goldman. Goldman, who scored early for the Broncos, came back to score another three times in the second half. His second and third goal found each other four minutes apart and his fourth came with 10 minutes left in the match.
Also scoring for the Broncos was Dan Ficmann. Western Michigan dominated the second half and walked away with the 5-2 victory.
This match marks the end of conference play for the Falcons. Bowling Green ends MAC play at 0-6.
The next match for the Falcons will be on Sunday (Oct. 24) as they travel to Southwest Ohio to take on the Bearcats of Cincinnati at 3:30 p.m.
