CLEVELAND, Ohio - Sophomores Omar Jacobs and Terrel White were honored this week by the Mid-American Conference. Jacobs was awarded MAC West Division Offensive Player of the Week, while White captured Special Teams Player of the Week.
Offense - Omar Jacobs, Bowling Green, quarterback
Jacobs has earned the award for the second time this season. Jacobs shredded the league's top rated defense for five touchdown passes in a 56-35 win over Marshall in a win that kept the Falcons post-season hopes alive and improved the team's record to 8-2. Jacobs completed 24-of-37 passes for 389 yards. He established school records for touchdown passes in a season (32) and consecutive pass attempts without an interception (224). The 32 TD passes are tied for the sixth most in league history and Jacobs is seven shy of tying the record of 39 set in 1999 by Chad Pennington of Marshall.
Special Teams - Terrel White, Bowling Green, kickoff team
White's hit on Marshall's Ahmad Bradshaw forced a fumble on a first quarter kickoff return that led to a Falcon touchdown and a 21-7 lead. A linebacker, White also had six tackles and a tackle for a loss.
The Falcons resume action on Tuesday, November 23, when they travel to Toledo, for a 7:00 p.m. showdown with the Rockets.
